Hello!
I am Goran. Two years ago, I had a stroke. My right side is paralyzed. When I left the hospital, people said “get well soon” – but in reality, everything was just beginning.
A stroke is a bigger picture than you think. It doesn’t just stop part of your body; it also forces you to face yourself, your fears, your patience, and your stubbornness. While lying in the hospital, I realized that the most important thing is to be a conscious patient. To know what is happening, to understand what you are fighting against. Not to question everything the doctor says, but to know how to listen to your own body. Because no one knows you better than yourself.
If you want to hold on to life, you first need to know what you are holding onto. I know sports. I know rock’n’roll. I know how to fight. Maybe that’s why I’m still here.
In those days, I felt I had to do something. I sat down and thought. Then I wrote my first book:
INVALID – Basketball, Stroke & Rock’n’Roll
With one finger. With my left hand. (Because my right side wasn’t working.)
Then I didn’t stop. My second book is coming, which is a continuation of the first. Its name is:
Invalid – SCRIPT ABOUT STROKE, SPORT AND ROCK’N’ROLL 2
The launch will be at the end of April.
Why did I create this site? Not to talk about myself. Maybe you also have a struggle. Maybe you are also stuck somewhere. I didn’t choose to stay stuck. I just kept going. As a conscious patient. As a stubborn survivor.
That’s exactly why Shloger-Bloger exists. There will be writings, memories, sometimes nonsense, sometimes sentences that will hit you right in the heart.
Come in, sit down, read. Laugh if you want, cry if you want. But don’t feel sorry for me. I am not someone to be pitied. I am still here.
